Anti Depressants and Sex Drive

There are a number of reasons why many women experience low sex drive. Low sex drive can be brought on by many physical problems. The most severe medical issues related to low sex drive are disorders that affect the neural (nervous) system or cause nerve damage, such as Diabetes, Multiple Sclorosis, Parkinson's Disease, and stroke.

When signs of menopause include mood swings, depression, anxiety or fatigue, doctors sometime prescribe anti-depressants. Anti-depressants have side effects of their own, including a decrease in sex drive, difficulty obtaining orgasm and a general feeling of numbness. Natural products, including many common vitamins may help relieve these symptoms of menopause, without the side effects. Good nutrition is important at all times during a woman's life, but is particularly important at this time of her life.

Your sexual compatibility. Whether or not you enjoy the same things sexually seems to be a big factor in whether or not you are satisfied and motivated sexually. For example, if you enjoy lots of kissing during lovemaking, while your partner is opposed to this, then you may not have such a great time together. Also, if your partner is very sexually adventurous and you are very uptight, you might both resist having sex together because of your different tastes.

Depression - this is one of the most common ways in which female libido loss can occur and for the sufferer there seems to be no way of easing the situation. Many women are unaware that there are ways of increasing female libido, so they do not look into the subject.

Anti-depressants are drugs that are prescribed to balance chemicals in the brain or to allow the chemicals already present to work more efficiently. They are also used to help you control mood swings. The unfortunate thing about them though, is that they have some very serious side effects connected to them. Some of the milder side effects are that they may make you dizzy or nauseous. They could also inhibit your sex drive. The most serious side effects are thoughts and/or attempts of suicide.

Female libido enhancement is an area which is becoming more and more read and talked about, as women are realizing that their libido problems can be helped. And more importantly they can help themselves by thinking about using natural female libido enhancers.

Non-medical treatments can be something as simple as changing your life style. Reduce your intake of alcohol and quit smoking. Eating a healthy diet and getting exercise will not only help you to feel better. Exercise might also boost your sex drive. Accept the fact that you are aging and be more open to your partner during this time.

Accepting yourself and the changes that come with aging may help to relieve some of the anxiety and depression that accompany menopause. Taking care of yourself is imperative. Seek the help of loved ones or friends particularly if you are greatly fatigued or depressed. Anti-depressants may also be temporarily prescribed to ease depression and anxiety.
